Amazing Race 3:00 – 4:00PM
Ah yes, yet another week of Amazing Race – well, today Valerie and I helped out with the Challenge that Diana had suggested for Mr. Holmes to do for Amazing Race this week. The Challenge was to get both team members over a distance without touching the floor. The equipment they could have was only 2 chairs. It was interesting to see the many ways to get across. Take a look at the pictures:
The bunny-hop method
And the SUPER x-rated method...
It was fun watching do the challenge – things got pretty tense though when a team from the 7-9 group fell over and scrapped his knee. Practically Diana, Val and I panicked as they both ran off to get Mr. Holmes and some aid from the school nurse. I stayed and asked if they wished to continue with the challenge or move on to the next task taking the time penalty. They decided to take the next clue and off they were. They were really strong – I think that if that was me after a fall like that I would’ve just quit.
Anyway, I don’t think any team got eliminated – well not that of any that I know of anyway :).
ISB Quiz Night 7:00 – 9:30PM
Well, I was going to start of by saying “as you all know...” but then it occurred to me that you guys don’t know! So yes, there was an ISB Quiz Night and Mr. Klein asked our tutor group (12I1) if we had entered a team to represent our class. Rais – jumped up and down out of his seat and started naming people and it ended up as, Ardyn, Diana, Hazim, Rais and I in one team – the MEER CATS in honour of Rais’ surname. Actually, he wanted to be called the ‘Abdul Meer Cats’ but Hazim didn’t want.
Anyway, we all decided to wear all white so that we could stick our team name on our shirts. We came to the quiz night unprepared (as in, not even studying just a bit) and we surprised ourselves by how much we could answer and how many teams we were able to beat – I’m saving the suspense for later...
The MEER CATS feat. Mr. Klein
The Quiz consisted of 4 Rounds of which the first round consisted of Science, Math English, History and Anagram questions. To my surprise, even though I totally despise Science, I managed to answer 2 questions under it that none of my team members knew – which was how many bones in the human body and what it the temperature in degrees Celsius of Absolute Zero. Answer: 206 bones and -273oC . But the most I answered were from the Math section while Ardyn answered most of the English and Anagram questions. Diana took on History while Hazim took on Science – Rais practically answered whatever he could ;).
Round 2 consisted of Countries and their Capital Cities, plus a certain question concerning the Country. I was so happy when we got to this round – well only because I had a fascination about learning all the capital cities of all countries around the world, so this was a piece of cake. Well almost because there was a slide of pictures on the projector screen and by the pictures we had to guess which country it was...
After Round 2 there was a short intermission for refreshments. We went around talking to other people about the answers and some were pretty mind-breaking – and when I say mind-breaking I mean, “Oh my gosh that’s what we thought of in the first place but we thought it was wrong so we changed our answer!” Ah yes – those ‘careless mistakes’ kind of thing that everyone goes through in life...
Round 3 began quite soon and it was on Sports, Film and a pipeline question. Hazim and Rais whipped through the Sports questions in a flash and same goes for Ardyn with the Film questions. I helped Diana out in figuring the Pipeline question – this is how it goes. There were a number of animals on the left hand side of the sheet while on the right hand side were their classifications with the certain pipeline direction. Once we were able to classify them, Diana drew in the pipelines on the answer sheet and figured out which pipeline connected to the other.
When that was done, Round 4 came and it was Songs – we had to name the title of the song and who was it sang by. I have to admit, most of the songs I knew and heard over and over again, but I never seemed to know the title and who it was sung by. For example: “♪You don’t have to be rich, to be my girl, to don’t have to be cool, to rule my world...♫” Yeah... But lucky for us, Diana (once again) knew most of the songs that were played. To be honest, the only song that I knew the title of and the singer was Katy Perry’s “I Kissed a Girl.” That’s true! And it was so funny to see all the teacher’s facial expressions like “what the heck?” It was especially funny because it was on Mr. Klein’s and Ms. Then’s face!
After Round 4 there was a short break while the markers marked the final paper entries after which Nick announced the winners for the Junior Division, and then the Senior Division. To be honest I didn’t actually think we’d get a high placing – not to mention we didn’t even think we were going to win! Not against the teachers! Anyway, all that I can say is that the team who we were competing with were “The Fabulous Five!” Well we weren’t actually competing against them, but we knew that they would beat us somehow – and to our surprise... we actually beat them! We couldn’t believe it! Now I guess you’re wondering why we were so surprised... Cross you eyes to the table:
THE MEER CATS | THE FABULOUS FIVE |
- Allison
- Ardyn
- Diana
- Hazim
- Rais
| - Amirah
- Charleen
- Hui Yen
- MayAnne

This is like Rais’ ULTIMATE dream so to say! Anyway, they got 11th place out of 16 while the Meer Cats were proud to make it into the top 10. We wound up in 8th place with 79 points out of 120.
GO MEER CATS, GO MEER CATS! GO! GO! GO MEER CATS, WHOOOOOOOO!~

INTERNATIONAL DAY 2008 7:15 – 11:45AM
FINALLY! After 2 years without our ISB Traditional International Day – we finally had one today! Early morning we started off with an assembly. We were greeted by Nick and Isa the current President and Vice-President of the Student Body. The National Anthem of Brunei was then sung followed on by a series of dances by both primary and secondary.
After the assembly, we headed on back to the Secondary area where we were to watch the primary students parade around campus in their National Clothes. It was really cute seeing them parade – it reminded me of the times when I was them. After the parade, we headed on to our respective classes – well more or like the rest did but Brittany, Diana, Shawn, Val and I headed on to the Canteen Area to set up our food stall – “Fruits around the World!” It was pretty boring at first because we were situated beside the Barbeque Stall. Of course people would choose barbeque over fruits... And I know that because when I yelled out “Fruits! Let’s go healthy!” people walked over to the barbeque section. So I stayed by the food stall for about an hour after which I made my way to look at the other stalls with Brittany and Valerie. Well we made our way over to the Haunted House and met up with Adib, Amirah and Hui Yen. So we waited in line for about 10-15 minutes when we were told to get out of the line and let the primaries go first. It was annoying really... But then we spilt like, Adib-Hui Yen, Britt-Val and Amirah and I...
Amirah and I went into New Zealand – pretty boring really after which we headed on to America where we had a gay marriage (in California of course) performed by Jeff. It was so fun! After that, Amirah and I proclaimed to the World about our marriage.
We got our faces painted...
“JUST MARRIED”
...After which we headed over around the World for our honeymoon!
FRANCE
RUSSIA
CANADA
JAPAN
EGYPT
ITALY
MEXICO
SPAIN
NORTH KOREA
SOUTH KOREA
SCOTLAND!!!
After our so-called ‘honeymoon,’ we headed on back to the Haunted House – and with only a few minutes lining up, we were told to go back to our respective classes and clean up... I was so annoyed. I waited so long to go into the Haunted House which didn’t even happen! I mean it’s like a tradition for me! I ALWAYS go into the Haunted House on International Day! Some tradition that was ruined... The last I ever went into one was back when I was in Year 8... Anyway, no point arguing with the teacher – I just went back to the food stall to help clean up – surprisingly, all the fruit was sold! After cleaning up, it was time to go home...

12I1 is the BEST class ever!

OBBD Presentation
As all you readers out there may or may not have remembered, I went on a trip to Outward Bound Temburong with my fellow classmates. A few weeks ago, Ardyn and I volunteered to create a shot clip of photos to show to the rest of the class while our certificates were being presented. Today was the day that the clip was shown and when we received our certificates. I’m not too sure how many minutes/hour Ms. Hancox is granting the both of us though, however I am not expecting much since it was a simple task.
Friday 3rd October 2008
Swimming 4:00 – 6:00PM
I have moved my swimming classes to every Friday’s now for two hours since I’ve cut off the hour I’m supposed to do on Saturday’s. Anyway, pretty much the same routine – workouts and all; nothing new except the fact that I stayed for two hours. It was really tiring but I managed to pull through with no muscle aches, so far. But I can see myself in the next few weeks drained of my energy. At least I can say that I really give it my all to be the best swimmer I can be – and of course to stay fit and healthy. I need the exercise.
Saturday 4th October 2008
Tennis 2:00 – 4:00PM
Top left-hand to bottom right-hand: Allison(me), Charleen, Cheryl, Hui Min, Nyssa & Valerie... Now I wonder why I don’t have a picture of MayAnne in action :S Oh well, Diana is also part of our Tennis clan, but she is currently making me oh-so jealous for she is in BRISBANE for the mid-term...
Yet another week with tennis! Seriously, I have NEVER been so enthralled by a sport that I am not actually that good at. For so long I have said to myself that I’m only good at swimming... All along there has been another sport right up my nose! So today we just continued on working on our swing – I still keep getting it wrong though! My swing is alright, it’s just with so many things to remember, I tend to forget to do the littlest and simplest things like swinging my racket over my shoulder, doing my teardrop when I get ready to swing and my forward motion of my racket when I hit the ball... Yes, so many things. So coach had me close my eyes and focus on my swing and not on hitting the ball. I looked at the ball first so I know when to start bringing my arm and shoulder back – and when I’m ready to hit, I close my eyes. He’s a great coach really – I mean 6 years ago when I used to play with my cousin, all the coach had us do then was play, play and PLAY!
That’s all for today folks!
Toodles♥ and have a great weekend/mid-term!
