Autism Group 12:00 – 1:30PM
Well, today was yet another day playing with Autistic children, and might I add that I’ve had a very difficult day indeed. All was good until Yi Shen decided to go out of the Adventure Playground and play in the
Val’s kid (Ren Wee) and I blowing bubbles!
I won’t be heading off to go Swimming today because... Yeah... *Peace!*
Oh and, I think I might be changing my Swimming schedule to only every Friday’s for 2 hours. This is because I’ll be taking up Beginners Tennis on Saturday afternoons from now on! Well – I have played Tennis before, like 6 years ago? So yes, that is why I am going back to Beginners.
Cheerio amigos!♥

Painting Group 2:30 – 3:00pm
It went by real quick actually and I didn’t get to paint much for there were a lot of people who wanted a chance to get at in and paint. To be honest, I only painted like the guy’s hair black and that was it. I stayed around until 3:00pm though just helping people get the paints all mixed right. After that, I headed on with Val and Britt to Toddler Group...
Toddler Group
3:00 – 5:00pm
Nothing much happened – pretty much the same thing as last week except that there were more Toddlers that came this week. I felt like a little kid all over again playing with Playdough and stuff :).

Amazing Race 3:00 – 4:30pm
Once again Mr. Holmes went a bit of course with his timing again and unfortunately cancelled the last activity that Amirah, Andrew, Diana, Val and I handled. Well I mean, a few people were able to make it to the last challenge before pit-stop but then not all were able to do the challenge. And to those out there – this was the OFFICIAL start of the Amazing Race ISB. Sorry but I don’t know if anyone got eliminated on this first leg but I’ll have to find out for you guys probably next week...

Autism Group
12:00 – 12:45pm
Today was yet another day for me to give hours towards my CAS – and to be specific, Service hours. Autism Group was held today and it’s a chance for us Year 12 and 13 students to look after and play with autistic children in school. There were lots of children and of course a lot of volunteers too. Out of my own free will and not by the will of my friends or teachers, I gladly volunteered to join the Autistic Group because I love being around children and getting the chance to play with them seeing as both my younger sisters are a bit grown-up to play nice with. Anyway, we were supposed to buddy up with a Year 13 so that they would be able to show us the ropes on how to handle an autistic child. Well the other volunteers were lucky, but not me – I worked on my own looking after a child with his Mom by his side. It’s just that there weren’t enough Year 13’s that came today. But I didn’t have much difficulty as I could say that I have a bit of experience working with autistic children only because my other sister does have some mental problems. She’s not autistic, but her brain is delayed by 3 years, so even if she’s 14-years-old, she still thinks and acts like an 11-year-old and it was hard for my Mom and I to help her get enthusiastic about going to school in her early years. This was also one of the main reasons as to why I wanted to join the Autistic Group, because I wanted to learn more about how I should treat an autistic child if ever one does come across my life again – and I will say that nobody is perfect so it is very likely that I will come across a child who is merely different that others.
Before I end, I would just like to say that it was really touching to see how the parents of these autistic children are really there to support their child as I know it is really difficult for them to have to see their kid grow up being autistic. I would just like to end this post by saying that I was really glad that I got to make friends with a little guy called Yi Shen. I found it really emotional how even though he was new to the program and so was I, he always held my hand and even called me ‘jiejie’ which means ‘big sister’ in Mandarin.
Anyway, on a last note, I really do hope I get to see more of him in two weeks time – since we were a big volunteer group, we were split into two. My group worked today and the next group will be helping out next Friday. But I would just like to say that I am dedicated to looking after Yi Shen and any other child on the weeks that I get to spend with him...
That’s all for my Service and later on at around 4pm I’ll be off to Mabohai to do some Action hours through Swimming...

Toddler Group 3:00 – 4:00pm
Today after school, my friends and I decided to help out with the Toddler Group that is held every Wednesday’s from 3:00 – 5:00pm. We get to help out in the Kindergarten area and watch over little 2-year-olds while from time-to-time we get to play with them too. Since today was our first time to help out with the Toddler Group we had a short briefing about the area and about the kids that come in with their parents. I got to watch over Mrs. Rasani and her cute grandson Haqueem as they roamed around moving from place to place to satisfy Haqueem’s need for ‘fun.’
It was fun to watch over little toddlers have their own little fun with either their parents or grandparents in Haqueem’s case. In my case, I felt memories come back to me as I entered the Kindergarten area for I have been in ISB since I was 5-years-old. Watching over little toddlers also brought back memories of the days when I was young, innocent and knew little about things and don’t even seem to care about it.
Anyway, the hour ended quite quick as we were misinformed about the hours we were supposed to do. I will however though be dedicated to and will be part of the Toddler Group every Wednesday afternoons to watch over the little kiddies...

Amazing Race 3:00 – 4:30pm
Today was the trial race for Amazing Race ISB – well it was only a trial for Mr. Holmes wanted to have a brief idea of how long the teams would take to complete a whole race. Well, it was planned for them to be able to complete it in an hour, but unfortunately it took about a half and hour later. But, as very helpful and keen students to grab as many CAS hours available, we ‘volunteered’ to stay the extra half an hour until the race was over. Valerie and I in charge of the second activity which was a Road Block where one team member had to count Monopoly money and report back to us with the correct total. If a team member didn’t get the amount right, they had to go back to the end of the queue.
I handled the Years 10 – 13 (more or like just the Year 13’s) while Val handled the lower year groups. Even though the task wasn’t physical, the groups found it hard to count their money as there were a couple of groups who kept getting the amount wrong. For me to watch this proves that I think people now-a-days rely too much on their calculators and not their mental ability.
Anyway, today was fun and I’m sure to say that I will also be dedicated to being a member of the Amazing Race ISB ‘behind the scenes’ every Thursday afternoons...
