Well, Ardyn, Brittany, Tharindu, Valerie and I didn’t have any assigned Tutor Group because we were either in charge of Face Painting, Food or DVD Stall...

Autism Group 12:00 – 1:30PM
Well, today was yet another day playing with Autistic children, and might I add that I’ve had a very difficult day indeed. All was good until Yi Shen decided to go out of the Adventure Playground and play in the Basketball Court. Everything was okay – we were playing and having fun until Yi Shen decided to go into the PE Room. He was bouncing the ball inside the room and wouldn’t go out. I got really scared that he’d smash one of the computers, so I talked to him and said that we should go back to the Playground. He heard what I said but wouldn’t listen. He kept on hitting me and spitting at me – to be honest, I got really annoyed. I wanted to go out and call his Mom, but on the other hand I didn’t want to leave him alone in the Room knowing that it might not be safe. So I called Hui Yen up to help me call Yi Shen’s Mom. Hui Yen came to the PE Room to look over Yi Shen while I called his Mom. When his Mom and I got to the PE Room, she called Yi Shen out, and when I was about to walk out, Yi Shen pushed me back into the Room and closed the door. Seriously, at this point he really had pushed my buttons – but I tried to stay calm. I opened the door again, and he slammed the door on me again... I waited for a while before opening the door again. I could hear Yi Shen’s Mom saying “Why are you doing that?” After a while, I opened the door again. Yi Shen’s Mom had told him to say sorry and give me a hug, which he did in the end. It was a frustrating moment for me to be honest. In the end they left early.
Val’s kid (Ren Wee) and I blowing bubbles!
I won’t be heading off to go Swimming today because... Yeah... *Peace!*
Oh and, I think I might be changing my Swimming schedule to only every Friday’s for 2 hours. This is because I’ll be taking up Beginners Tennis on Saturday afternoons from now on! Well – I have played Tennis before, like 6 years ago? So yes, that is why I am going back to Beginners.
Cheerio amigos!♥

Roughly the activities I've done over this week:
Monday 15th September 2008
Website Design 2:00 - 3:00pm
Well, it wasn't my intention to join this CAS Activity, but I had to seeing as I was nominated Webmaster in my class. After joining the club I actually realised how useful it is for me when I get into College :). Anyway, it was fun, making designs for my Class website that I am going to make. I hope everything turns out well in the next few weeks to come...
Wednesday 17th September 2008
Toddler Group 3:00 - 5:00pm
Same old, same old routine. Oh and yes, I stopped joining the Painting Group. It's kinda boring when you have too many volunteers who want to paint and in the end I wind up with NOTHING to paint...
Friday 19th September 2008
Autism Group 12:00 - 1:30pm
Same routine as well with Yi Shen - though I felt as if I wasn't taking very good care of him even though I never took my eyes of him. He ran so fast under small places in the Adventure Playground that I had to go the long way just so I wouldn't loose sight of him. And just as I was about to approach him, this other kid just rammed into him and knocked him down to the ground. He started to cry and I felt bad. His Mom wasn't mad but I thought it was kind of rude for the other kid to just run away without saying sorry - but I can't judge them that way. They don't really know what is right from wrong. Anyway, I really did feel bad. And not to name and names, I could really see it in people's eyes that they were sort off blaming me for what happened because I did not take proper care of him... Which is a sad thing because I NEVER did let my sight of Yi Shen. Anyway, because of what happened, Yi Shen lef early :(.
Swimming 4:00 - 5:00pm
SWIMMING AT MABOHAI. Wow - It was tiring :D.

Painting Group 2:30 – 3:00pm
It went by real quick actually and I didn’t get to paint much for there were a lot of people who wanted a chance to get at in and paint. To be honest, I only painted like the guy’s hair black and that was it. I stayed around until 3:00pm though just helping people get the paints all mixed right. After that, I headed on with Val and Britt to Toddler Group...
Toddler Group
3:00 – 5:00pm
Nothing much happened – pretty much the same thing as last week except that there were more Toddlers that came this week. I felt like a little kid all over again playing with Playdough and stuff :).
Thursday 11th September 2008
Amazing Race 3:00 – 4:30pm
Once again Mr. Holmes went a bit of course with his timing again and unfortunately cancelled the last activity that Amirah, Andrew, Diana, Val and I handled. Well I mean, a few people were able to make it to the last challenge before pit-stop but then not all were able to do the challenge. And to those out there – this was the OFFICIAL start of the Amazing Race ISB. Sorry but I don’t know if anyone got eliminated on this first leg but I’ll have to find out for you guys probably next week...
Friday 12th September 2008
Autism Group 12:00 – 1:30pm
Today was yet another day to play with Autistic Children and of course an opportunity for me to meet with Yi Shen again! He was really hyper-active today and non-shy unlike last week. He laughed and had so much fun which was really nice to see... It was really hot and sticky for we played outdoors the whole hour and a half. I got tired, but he certainly didn’t which amazed me on how much strength and stamina he had!
Yi Shen and I having some fun at the Adventure Playground

Autism Group
12:00 – 12:45pm
Today was yet another day for me to give hours towards my CAS – and to be specific, Service hours. Autism Group was held today and it’s a chance for us Year 12 and 13 students to look after and play with autistic children in school. There were lots of children and of course a lot of volunteers too. Out of my own free will and not by the will of my friends or teachers, I gladly volunteered to join the Autistic Group because I love being around children and getting the chance to play with them seeing as both my younger sisters are a bit grown-up to play nice with. Anyway, we were supposed to buddy up with a Year 13 so that they would be able to show us the ropes on how to handle an autistic child. Well the other volunteers were lucky, but not me – I worked on my own looking after a child with his Mom by his side. It’s just that there weren’t enough Year 13’s that came today. But I didn’t have much difficulty as I could say that I have a bit of experience working with autistic children only because my other sister does have some mental problems. She’s not autistic, but her brain is delayed by 3 years, so even if she’s 14-years-old, she still thinks and acts like an 11-year-old and it was hard for my Mom and I to help her get enthusiastic about going to school in her early years. This was also one of the main reasons as to why I wanted to join the Autistic Group, because I wanted to learn more about how I should treat an autistic child if ever one does come across my life again – and I will say that nobody is perfect so it is very likely that I will come across a child who is merely different that others.
Before I end, I would just like to say that it was really touching to see how the parents of these autistic children are really there to support their child as I know it is really difficult for them to have to see their kid grow up being autistic. I would just like to end this post by saying that I was really glad that I got to make friends with a little guy called Yi Shen. I found it really emotional how even though he was new to the program and so was I, he always held my hand and even called me ‘jiejie’ which means ‘big sister’ in Mandarin.
Anyway, on a last note, I really do hope I get to see more of him in two weeks time – since we were a big volunteer group, we were split into two. My group worked today and the next group will be helping out next Friday. But I would just like to say that I am dedicated to looking after Yi Shen and any other child on the weeks that I get to spend with him...
That’s all for my Service and later on at around 4pm I’ll be off to Mabohai to do some Action hours through Swimming...

Hey guys! It's still Ally from
http://amcarmen.blogspot.com...
This will be an extention from my main blog for my CAS Diary entries. No I have not gone electronic with my Diary but only because I get really behind in my Diary entries on my actual diary and I don't want to 'forget' what I have been doing over the week and stuff. So this will be like my pre-diary entries before it really goes into my own personalised CAS Diary...What I'll do is, after each entry (whatever activity I've done for it) I'll post up an image of what it actually looks like on my personalised CAS Diary when I get around to actually updating it... I'm too laz to post up photo's here on my CAS Blog...Anyway, my Temburong CAS Trip is in my other blog site, so please feel free to go there and check it out while today's entry will be on the activities that I have joined yesterday and today: Wednesday 3rd September 2008
Toddler Group 3:00 – 4:00pm
Today after school, my friends and I decided to help out with the Toddler Group that is held every Wednesday’s from 3:00 – 5:00pm. We get to help out in the Kindergarten area and watch over little 2-year-olds while from time-to-time we get to play with them too. Since today was our first time to help out with the Toddler Group we had a short briefing about the area and about the kids that come in with their parents. I got to watch over Mrs. Rasani and her cute grandson Haqueem as they roamed around moving from place to place to satisfy Haqueem’s need for ‘fun.’
It was fun to watch over little toddlers have their own little fun with either their parents or grandparents in Haqueem’s case. In my case, I felt memories come back to me as I entered the Kindergarten area for I have been in ISB since I was 5-years-old. Watching over little toddlers also brought back memories of the days when I was young, innocent and knew little about things and don’t even seem to care about it.
Anyway, the hour ended quite quick as we were misinformed about the hours we were supposed to do. I will however though be dedicated to and will be part of the Toddler Group every Wednesday afternoons to watch over the little kiddies...

Amazing Race 3:00 – 4:30pm
Today was the trial race for Amazing Race ISB – well it was only a trial for Mr. Holmes wanted to have a brief idea of how long the teams would take to complete a whole race. Well, it was planned for them to be able to complete it in an hour, but unfortunately it took about a half and hour later. But, as very helpful and keen students to grab as many CAS hours available, we ‘volunteered’ to stay the extra half an hour until the race was over. Valerie and I in charge of the second activity which was a Road Block where one team member had to count Monopoly money and report back to us with the correct total. If a team member didn’t get the amount right, they had to go back to the end of the queue.
I handled the Years 10 – 13 (more or like just the Year 13’s) while Val handled the lower year groups. Even though the task wasn’t physical, the groups found it hard to count their money as there were a couple of groups who kept getting the amount wrong. For me to watch this proves that I think people now-a-days rely too much on their calculators and not their mental ability.
Anyway, today was fun and I’m sure to say that I will also be dedicated to being a member of the Amazing Race ISB ‘behind the scenes’ every Thursday afternoons...
